Discover the authentic Glouglou carafe
Iconic, resonant, and unique, the Glouglou carafe transcends eras without losing its charm. Behind its fish-like silhouette lies a story deeply intertwined with the Charolles factory and French ceramic heritage.

A fish-shaped carafe with timeless charm
Fish-shaped carafes have existed for centuries in the history of ceramics. Their distinctive silhouette is not only aesthetically pleasing: it also produces the famous "glug-glug" sound when the liquid is poured.
While the exact origin of this shape is not definitively established, it has become a popular decorative, cheerful, and functional object over time. The fish-shaped carafe has thus been passed down through generations, reinventing itself according to the skills and sensibilities of each workshop.

The French roots of the Glouglou carafe
In France, the history of the Glouglou carafe is closely linked to the Charolles factory. It was in the 1920s that Jules Molin imagined a carafe in the shape of a fish, in the spirit of the decorative objects of his time.
A few decades later, in 1965, his son Jacques Molin, who had become the owner of the factory, rediscovered an old mold for this unique piece in the workshops. Intrigued by its visual impact and its distinctive character, he decided to revive its production.
That same year, the carafe was given as a gift to the factory employees. This gesture helped to bring this iconic object back into the spotlight and marked the beginning of its modern distribution.

Handmade, true to French know-how
Today, the Glouglou carafe is still handmade in Charolles. Each piece continues a living story, passed down within the factory and crafted with exacting standards.
More than a decorative object, it embodies a certain idea of the French art of living: an expressive, handcrafted, durable piece deeply rooted in a territory of know-how.
In a market where many versions coexist, the authenticity of its history and the continuity of its French manufacturing make the Glouglou de Charolles carafe a unique reference.
The Glouglou carafe, a French icon that remains relevant today
From its historical design to its current handcrafted production, the Glouglou carafe perpetuates the spirit of the Charolles factory. A distinctive piece, born from French history and still made by hand.
